One day when he paused to rest, he heard somebody nearby heartily clapping his hands. Turning his sightless eyes in that direction, he asked with a smile, “Who are you?” “I am your King!” was the reply. The British monarch was visiting the wounded to cheer them and strengthen their morale. Without realizing it, the young man had been using his talent to entertain royalty.
In I Peter 4:11 we are told, “If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” All of us have talents and abilities that can be used for the Lord. We may not know why God has put us in a certain place. We may not immediately see the results of our labors. At times we may wonder if anyone is listening. We may question whether or not our efforts even matter. Yet, be assured of this – God is watching. He’s the one we are really serving anyway. It doesn’t matter what others may think of our efforts. The affirmation we seek are the words of the master. In Matthew 25:1 it says, “Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!”
Have a great week!
