Crazy People Who Believe God
I read an interesting comment recently from Dr. John Oswalt, a professor who teaches at Asbury Theological Seminary about crazy students who trust in God. Here are Dr. Oswalt’s comments:
“It seems that almost every year we have some people arrive to go to school who are crazy, to put it bluntly. They have sold everything they have. Their few remaining possessions are in the back of a pickup truck. They are in their thirties, a long time out of college. They have three kids.
“Do you know where you are going to live?’
“Does your wife have a job?”
“Are you going to get a job?”
“Nope, going to study.”
“How much money do you have?”
“Two hundred and fifty dollars.”
Crazy. Then comes the unanswerable remark: “But God brought us here.”
And do you know what? In case after case, God cares for those crazy people!”
Dr. Oswalt does not suggest that we all throw caution to the wind and launch out on some scatter-brained adventure. Yet, when God calls we can trust Him. He keeps His promises and He has promised to “supply our needs.” (See Philippians 4:19)
I have learned over and over in my life that the safest place to be is in the center of His will.
Over the next few weeks at Parkway we are going to be looking at some of the Promises of God in our Fall Sermon Series. Did you know there are over 7000 specific promises in God’s Word? We hope you can join us as we discover together that we can stand on God’s promises. They can become “Anchors of hope in a Turbulent World.”
Have a great week!
