Give It To Jesus

There is an old gospel hymn I heard recently that says;

Leave it there, oh, leave it there
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there
If you would trust Him and never doubt
He would surely bring you out
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

Most of us are pretty good at taking our burdens to the Lord.  We cry out to Him for help on a daily, sometimes hourly basis.  Our difficulty is the leaving them there part.  We keep trying to reclaim them and fix the problem ourselves instead of letting God work it out.

One of the most remarkable lessons in the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine at Cana of Galilee is how Mary brings the problem to Jesus and leaves it there.  As far as I can tell, she doesn’t have a plan B.  She doesn’t look for another solution to the problem.  She simply tells Jesus about it and leaves it in His hands.

Oh, if we could only learn to do the same.  As the apostle Peter reminds us, “Cast all our anxiety on Him because he cares for you.” (I Peter 5:7)  What is it that’s stealing your joy and keeping you awake at night?  What is it that’s causing such concern?  If you want to find peace, there is only one place to take it.  Give it to Jesus and then leave it there.

Have a great week,
Pastor Barry
