My Seventh Wife

                                             My Seventh Wife

Scientists tell us that we basically get a new body every seven years.  Through the process of cell regeneration our body uses up and replaces cells, resulting in a complete change of tissue every seven years.  The body may change, but the soul and the spirit remain the same.

That got me to thinking.  If this is really true, then it means that I am now living with my seventh wife.  We’ve been married 43 years. [and let me be quick to say that this latest incarnation is just as beautiful as the first one!]

The point is that the outward form of these human bodies may change with age, but we are still the same person internally.  Only hopefully, we are growing and changing on the inside as well.  The apostle Paul says it this way Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day (II Corinthians 4:16).

What are we doing to encourage growth in the inward man or women?  Paul gives as a pretty good list to work on in (Colossians 3:12-14). Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Forget the beauty treatments and anti-aging products.  Let’s work on some cell regeneration of the heart.

Have a great week!
